1 PHONE: (972) Nancy Joann Haskell February 4, January 22, 2008 Cherished wife, mother, grandmother and sister, was born February 4,1939 in Shelbyville, Tennessee to Mildred and Sanford Carlton. Died suddenly from undiagnosed cancer, but lives anew, claiming her eternal just reward of a life devoted to her precious Lord Jesus, as well as an unwavering dedication to her loving family. She ascended the staircase into heaven and the arms of God on January 22, 2008 in Plano, Texas at age 68. Raised in Detroit, MI, where she graduated from Commerce High School in 1957 and then married the love of her life Forrest Haskell that same year. They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary April 12, 2007, with a dance and dinner party at the Stonebridge Country Club followed by a sea cruise with family. She was a multi-talented person who was named Texas Woman of the Year for Was Stonebridge Country Club s Mixed Doubles Tennis Champion with her husband in She was an artist who owned her own art gallery and also, at one time, owned a movie theater in Michigan. She worked at Baybrooke Nursing Home in McKinney, Texas, where she was the weekend activity coordinator and was most proud of giving the Sunday church service to all the shut-ins. Preceding her in death was her mother, father and brother Curtis. She is survived by husband Forrest Haskell, sister Linda Russo of Delaware, children, Ramona and husband Warren Corwin, Cynthia and husband David Bain, Mark and wife Norma Haskell, Guy and wife Holly Haskell, nine grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will also be held, Sunday January 27th, at 5:00p.m.at McKinney Fellowship Bible Church on 2801 Orchid at Eldorado Street. Her body will be cremated and laid to rest in Rockport, Texas, where a gravesite service will be held at the old Rockport Cemetery on February 2nd at 12:30pm. "Joann" was and remains an eternal light in my mother's eyes. They shared at least 10 great years in Rockport, playing bridge, laughing, and having the best of times together. I pray that they both meet up for a great tournament some day. Words cannot express what a God Send Joann was to my mother and our family. My Aunt, Estelle Stair was a big part of the art scene and Jo Ann was right there involved in everything. She painted in Estelle's gallery for many several years before she opened her own gallery. She was so energetic and had the best legs around from all the tennis she played. She was a beautiful lady inside and out. We will miss her. I know that JoAnn was the glue that held your family together and she will be missed terribly. As my husband Douglas was away on military assignment, I was all alone for the first time in my new country. I needed all the help I could get to make a new life in America. Joann was there for me. She helped me at every turn, taught me many things and became a very dear friend. I don t know what I would have done without Joann, her husband and wonderful children.
