1 Lion s Mane to the Tails Keeping District 14-L Lions Clubs Informed Number 50 December, 2018 Website: Greetings, Facebook District Governors Message I hope everyone had a wonderful and blessed Thanksgiving. We are so blessed with our family, friends, health, a nation with freedom that we live in. If I were to list everything that I am blessed with there would not be enough room. As Lions we have so many blessings. What is taking place in our future months ahead? On February 22nd through the 24th we have leadership training in York, Pennsylvania. This training is worthwhile for the leaders in our clubs to take. Training lions is our future in serving. The district will pay for the training if you are interested in going, please contact me within two weeks for the deadline is December 31st for registration. Our clubs are lacking in getting the monthly reports in to LCI. If you need help, contact our administration assistant. He will be happy to assist you. On February 2nd at the State Council Meeting in Altoona we will need all delegates from all clubs to vote. This is so important. The voting will take place from 8am to 10am. The voting will be for PCC Larry Edwards to become a International Director. PCC Larry Edwards has done so much for our clubs, serving two terms as District Governor and Council Chairman. He is still an associate to the Lakemont Club and works very hard. April 6st we are going to have our District Convention at the Northern Bedford County High School. We are having a special project at the convention. We are going to put together packets for the Nursing Homes. The items needed are small shampoos, conditioner, liquid soap, lotion, tissues, tooth brushes, tooth paste. We will also except money donations to purchase the items. I want all the clubs to have someone or all members to be present at the convention. There will be more information about the convention at a later date. At the last Cabinet meeting we chose our peace poster winner. The Forbes Road contestant won first place. I want to thank all of the other clubs that participated in this contest. Also our membership leader is asking that the clubs in Pennsylvania get 25 new members for the quarter. Just keep asking and let your community know who and what lions are all about. In July 2019, you will no longer receive a Pride Magazine by mail. The Pride will be electronic issued. In December we have a lot of invitations to Christmas parties. We would love to come to all but some are on the same night so we are taking the first invitation. I am sure all parties will be wonderful. I love the Christmas melodies. One of my favorite Christmas Hymn is Joy To The World. As Lions we give JOY TO THE WORLD through our kind, caring hearts. Keep up the great work LI- ONS!! MERRY CHRISTMAS!! DG Leanna

2 Message from 1st Vice District Governor John Harker Hello fellow Lions, With fall and the holiday season arriving soon, November has been a rather busy month. I attended the McVeytown Lions Club meeting at the invitation of Zone Chairmen Brad Wingard, along with District Governor Leanna Calhoun and her husband Leo. I have been setting up schedules for a training seminar in Harrisburg, and arranging air flight to St. Charles for February 11th to the 15th, for training and to tour LGI headquarters in Chicago. Brad Wingard invited me to one other Lions meeting, unfortunately I was unable to attend due to our fund raiser at Roaring Springs Lions Club being the same day. I attended the second council meeting at the Cove Lions Building on November 11th. It was a very productive meeting, and Lions also held the Stride Right Walk at the football field at Northern Bedford High School. I also helped the Roaring Spring Lions with the ox roast sale and breakfast with Santa. I have a concern about someone stepping up for Second Vice District Governor. It would be an advantage for this Lion to get the training and the experience working with the District Governor. I appreciate the work that District Governor Leanne Calhoun and past District Governor Jim Foreso has done. I plan to start getting ads in the directory at the beginning of the new year. In the good of Lionism I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving and I wish everyone a Merry Christmas. Kohn Harker 1 st Vice District Governor Merry Christmas
