2 President s Announcements: I have produced President Jeanette s report below in full as it is an excellent reference to current and planned events in the near future. Welcome to all our club members, visitors and special guests to tonight's meeting. John, Andrew, Phil, Don and I all attended the Rotary Multi-District Conference at the Melbourne Convention Centre last weekend. It was a great location, central to all our hotels accommodation and well setup for plenary, break-out sessions and Rotary Project displays. John, Andrew and I had placed our names down for volunteering (see vests) so we were all on the registration desk/enquiries where over the Friday afternoon/sat morning period nearly all the 1400 or so registration passes & Rotary Bags were handed out. I have a Program of the event and speakers here for anyone's interest. The speakers and chosen topics were very interesting and relevant to our clubs, such as diversity both age -and gender, club behaviors and more. Speaker's personal stories were shared ranging from building a maternity training hospital in war-torn Somaliland, the diversity of underwater marine life in Port Philip Bay, to current projects such as homelessness, international sanitation projects, sky hydrants and more. I am proud of our own impressive array of Club projects as outlined at our January meeting which are all continuing as planned, and I would like to thank all our members for their participation, donation of resources and valuable time. Our club meeting planner has now been updated with Adrian, Catherine and I, to include more guest speakers in our meetings as well as club nights and social nights to get some club fellowship happening. There will be a copy of this circulated with this week's bulletin. I presume you saw the article on the Maffra RC in the Gippsland Times recently, and I would like to work on an article in the near future with our merged club activities and current projects to show the local community we are still active locally. I am hoping our resident editor in chief David Tulloch may be able to assist us on this one when he is back. The Merger working group is still progressing along. Our current Pres Elect Raj is choosing his new board, both treasurers are working on merging of the club Bank accounts and most Sale Central memberships have already been transferred. Can I request any Sale Central members if you haven't already done so to please complete a transfer form and hand into Andrew Bradley? Blank copies are available. There will be our monthly Board Meeting after tonight's meeting if both clubs current board members can please stay back for this meeting and I will try to keep it brief. Treasurer's report as at 31 January the financials show a monthly surplus of $28, due to some generous Sponsorship received for Monday Tucker and the Music festival.

3 Twelve (12) Centurions to date- please try and have your $100 centurion money in before the end of April as we are aiming to keep the district record as the only all Centurion club for the third year running. Sale Community RSL has approached me regarding a shared community project and I will see if we can organise Marty Tanzer to come and speak with the club in more detail. Lyndon - is away ill this week so our International/foundation projects report will need to wait. However, I am hoping to have an update on the current status of the Sale Water Tower restoration project from Peter Synan soon. Rachel/Gerard- Race the Rubeena 24th Feb please see volunteers list. Alan Lewis & Philip Davis are working on the Sale Boardwalk signage, sponsors and artwork. The four large signs have now been removed for repairs and upgrade of signage. Carmel/Jenni- Vocational planning -$1,000 sponsorship of disadvantaged youth with a suitable recipient found. I am hoping that they can attend next week's meeting if possible but this is yet to be confirmed? Rotary Cluster Day - Discussed with our current ADG Bill Degnan and DGE Adrian Froggatt at our last quarterly cluster meeting of being involved in a club cluster activity of an 'Open to the Public' day at Centenary house, where every Rotarian can maybe plant a tree in recognition of the third extension being completed - details of this are yet to be worked through. Rod Exton - youth activities- we would like to see if any other members are available to assist Rod with finding suitable youth projects both in Rotary and community based that our Club may be able to assist with. Race the Rubeena 2019 The Race the Rubeena is a unique community event, brought to you by the Rotary Club of Sale and based around the Port of Sale and Longford Swing Bridge precincts in the Wellington Shire, about two hours east of Melbourne. The event comprises two separate running events: a 10 kilometre, flat, timed run which starts and finishes at the Port of Sale with a turnaround point at the Swing Bridge; and a five kilometre run which starts at the Swing Bridge and finishes at the Port.
