We conducted a "hot wash" of the festival on Sept 10th at where I received inputs on improvements, problems, and solutions. I plan on having a final write-up for our 2 nd meeting in October plan to be there. The three things I mentioned in the first sentence where all contributors to a successful festival, but the real reason the festival works is because of you the Lions, Lioness and Leos who contribute time and talent to make it work, plus the large number of adult and student volunteers who have a great time helping us make money for our projects. Now that the big event is over, I turn to making the Club a better organization than when I started. One theme that you have heard me communicate previously is building a long term plan for the viability of the Club and the future of the service we provide the community. The old adage, "If you don't know where you're going, any path will work," applies here. I'd like to pose several questions to the membership. Where do we want the Club to be in 10 years? What makes us special in the community of Bellbrook? How do we build on what we already have? How do we heighten Lionism within the community? Answer some of these questions and the path will be obvious. Standby for helping gain focus to where this path might lead. Gregg Sparks

6 Blood Drive 4 October 2008 Lion L.D. Johnson is running another Lions Memorial Blood Drive this weekend. It is Saturday, October 4 th from 9-1 at the Lions Grange center. He needs several helpers for setup and to pass out juice and cookies during the drive. Please contact Lion LD Johnson is interested in assisting. NEW Meeting format We will now have two different meeting formats. The usual format of conduct business then have treats will be utilized for normal meetings, the 3 rd Thursday of each month, unless otherwise noted. A new format will be utilized for the 1 st meeting of each month when we have guests. We will start with the normal opening ceremonies (Pledge, singing, and prayer), then introduction of the Guest Speaker and their time. After the guest speaker is finished, we will have fellowship and treats. After 10 or 15 minutes we will reconvene the meeting and complete business. Halloween in the Park The Lions are no longer doing Halloween in the Park. Our Haunted House was unsafe and became fire-wood. The city is using the space differently. Another Leo Club The High School Leo club is sponsoring a Leo Club at the Bellbrook Middle School. It will provide a chance for the younger kids to learn about volunteerism. It will also enable them to get into the Leo s before the school system takes them into other clubs once they reach High School. The highschool Leo s will mentor the younger Leo s with oversight from VP Eckley and Lion Rick Robertson. Adopt-A-Highway Steak Fry 18 October AM: Coffee & Donuts 8:30: Depart for Cleanup -- Done by Noon 5: PM: Lion John and Lioness Lynne Dorn are hosting their annual Steak Fry at their home. Lion Ernie is taking reservations, cost is $5 each.
