4 Resident Spotlight Ken DV was born on August 16, 1932 to John and Alice in Hudsonville. He has three brothers and one sister. Ken graduated from Hudsonville High School in After graduation, Ken worked for his dad at J. DV. & Sons. They did plumbing, heating, and cooling. He worked in the family business until he retired in Ken was drafted into the Army in He served two years at Fort Carson, CO as a military policeman. He met his wife, Mary, in a restaurant in Hudsonville. They married and had three sons. The boys all worked in the muck fields during the summer. Because Ken DV of work schedules, vacations were limited to weekends spent doing fun things outdoors. In 1962, after five years of marriage and five moves, Ken and Mary built a home in Hudsonville. Ken moved to Sheldon Meadows in June, He enjoys living here and appreciates all the staff. Ken especially enjoys sitting outside and soaking up the hot summer sun. He enjoys spending time with family, special music programs, and an occasional game of bingo. Thank you, Ken, for sharing a part of your life with us. We are glad to get to know you.
5 Department Spotlight Katie VD...13 years Diane H...7 years Cheryl B....2 years Hi, my name is Chris C. and I am one of the first shift house supervisors. I am 34 years old, and grew up in Monroe, MI on the east side of the state between Detroit, MI and Toledo, OH. I moved to West Michigan when I was 23 years old. I have been a LPN for nearly 10 years. I graduated from Everest Institute in I was awarded the Florence Nightingale g Award after being chosen by the faculty as the best all-around nursing prospect in my graduating class. I have spent most of my nursing career as a Home Manager/Nurse working with adults with special needs at Harbor House Ministries in Jenison. I live in Hudsonville with my wife and kids. I have been married to Staff Anniversaries Thank you for all you do!! Chris C. Bev B....2 years Traci T...2 years Brittany VL....1 year my wife, Krysta, for almost 9 years and we have 4 children. Our oldest, Aiva, is 12, Henry is 8, Ramona is 3, and we just welcomed our 4th child into the world in July, little Edith. I love being a husband and father, and consider my family both my greatest blessing and my greatest accomplishment. We love to go camping, swim in our pool, take our chocolate lab for walks, and spend time with friends. Our faith is very important to us. We are members at Hager Park Church in Jenison. When I am not at church, working, or spending time with my amazing family, I enjoy writing, reading, and watching sports. I follow the Detroit teams and am a huge Michigan fan.
6 Administrator Notes It s the most wonderful time of the year! We have made it to the last month of Amazing!! I still remember writing the January article! It has been a wonderful year, full of great friends, family, and good times at Sheldon Meadows. I know this month will be filled with people coming to see us, carol, and share the season. We are so grateful for the wonderful community we live in. We will be doing a giving tree again this year. Look for the tree in the East lobby that will have a little information about the family we are adopting and how you can make their season brighter.
