A cancellation book will be available at the front desk for anyone who would like to be informed of the Group Exercise class being cancelled. Make-up classes will not be scheduled for individuals who miss class due to their own inability to attend. 4 POLICIES Camera and Cell Phone Policy The use of video recorders, cameras or any other visual recording devices, including cellular picture phones is prohibited in locker rooms and rest rooms of the GLOW YMCA and program locations. Violators will be subject to appropriate sanctions including revocation of membership. Locker Room Policy Children 2 years of age and over are not allowed in the locker room of the opposite sex. The Y does have a Family/Special Needs locker room area for families with youth 2 years of age and older to utilize with the supervision of a parent/guardian. Under all circumstances, parents must be aware of the privacy of others. If you have any questions regarding this policy or need suggestions on how to ease into this transition, please speak to the manager on duty. Age Requirements All children must be at least 8 years of age to be in the facility without the supervision of an adult, unless participating in a youth program. Mature behavior is expected in all areas. We reserve the right to exclude anyone who does not adhere to the YMCA guidelines and safety standards. Please note the following minimum age requirements for unsupervised activities for members: Open swim: 8 years and under must have adult in building; youth under 6 years of age must have parent/adult supervision in the pool, within an arms length from the child. Lap swim: 12 and up. Open Gym: no age restriction. Steam room and hot tub: 18 years and older Track: 12 years and above. 11 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Wellness Center: 15 years and older. Youth may utilize the Wellness Center after taking the Youth Fitness class. Group Exercise: 15 years and older. Youth may take classes when accompanied by an adult. Pool Rules The YMCA puts safety first. We believe there is no substitute for adequate supervision. The following information is reinforced by the Y to prevent accidents: All entering the hot tub, steam room and/or pool must shower prior to entering. Children under 6 years of age must be accompanied in the pool by a parent or adult guardian, and must remain within an arms length from the child. Lifeguards are always on deck during hours of operation. YMCA pools may only be used during these times. In the event of an emergency, contact a lifeguard or the membership services desk. To ensure safety of our members, the pool will be temporarily closed when there is inclement weather (i.e. Lightning, thunderstorms, loss of power).

5 MEMBERSHIP FEES & PAYMENT OPTIONS Bank Draft Payment Option Membership fees as well as some program fees (School Age Child Care and Preschool) can be paid on a monthly basis through the monthly bank draft payment option. Low monthly fees are deducted automatically from your checking account or credit card. There is no finance charge. A completed authorization form and voided check/credit card information are necessary for all transactions. With this option, the membership will remain continuous until the member requests a cancellation with a 30 day written notice. Join Fee For new members, there is a one-time fee to join. Memberships that are expired for more than 30 days are considered new members. Credit/Refunds Fees are nonrefundable. However, if there is a documented medical excuse, please contact the Membership Director. YMCA Gift Certificates Give the gift of good health. A YMCA gift certificate is perfect for children who would enjoy swim lessons; a day at camp or youth sports; great for the family that plays together; and wonderful for the adult who is looking to start or continue an exercise program. Gift certificates are available year round, in any amount and may be applied towards membership or programs. Visit the member services desk for more information or to make a purchase. Second Child Program Discounts Youth programs may have additional pricing for classes such as swim lessons, youth sports, etc. When enrolling multiple children in the same program, the first child in the program will be charged the full program fee and each subsequent sibling enrolled will be charged 10% less for the program fee. Membership Type SCHOLARSHIP ASSISTANCE Can you afford the Y? ABSOLUTELY! No one is denied membership or services due to an inability to pay the full price The Wyoming County YMCA belongs to the community. We are a volunteer-led organization that believes in providing membership and program services to all who desire to participate. Through the Y s Scholarship Assistance Program, financial assistance is provided to those in need. This program is funded through the generous support of the United Way as well as by the community through our Annual Campaign. 6 YOUTH DEVELOPMENT We believe the values and skills learned early on are vital building blocks for life. Because of the Y, more young people in neighborhoods around the nation are taking a greater interest in learning and making smarter life choices. At the Y, children and teens learn values and positive behaviors, and can explore their unique talents and interests, helping them realize their potential. That makes for confident kids today and contributing and engaged adults tomorrow. PRESCHOOL CLASSES THREE YEAR OLD PRESCHOOL Nursery School is geared towards providing children with social experiences in a structured environment that offers exposure to literature, materials, and experiences that are age appropriate. There is a focus on learning through play and discovery with the implementation of a theme based curriculum. Children must be 3 years old on or before December 1, 2016 in order to participate in the three year old class. The class includes swimming once a week. You have a choice of 3 or 4 days per week. FOUR YEAR OLD PRESCHOOL Nursery School is geared towards providing children with social experiences in a structured environment that offers exposure to literature, materials, and experiences that are age appropriate. YOUTH FITNESS Ages The Youth Fitness class prepares youth so that they may safely use the Wellness Center prior to age 15. It teaches them about basic anatomy, the components to exercise, acclimates them to the equipment and sets them up with work-out programs. Additional hour(s) may be chosen from our add-on list below. 8 YOUTH DEVELOPMENT SWIM LESSONS Program Goals The YMCA Learn to Swim Program is oriented toward student center learning. It is designed to ensure the student s safety, provide the student with regular progressive success and make the learning process more enjoyable. At each level of the program, participants are involved in activities relating to five (5) basic components: Personal Safety Personal Growth Stroke Development Water Games and Sports Rescue Skills Each skill level builds upon the proceeding level, including six (3) levels covering the entire stroke and safety skills. By ensuring that the program is student centered with developmentally appropriate activities the YMCA is able to: Ensure the student s safety Enhance the student s enjoyment Provide consistent, progressive success PARENT AND CHILD CLASS DIAPER DIP - (6-18 MONTHS) Parent Child swim class that focuses on water orientation while emphasizing fun and safety. SPLASH N PLAY - (18-36 MONTHS) Parent Child swim class that further exposes the child to water safety, listening and basic swimming skills. PROGRESSIVE LESSONS RAY (3-5 YEARS) This is a beginner level class for the child with growing comfort in the water. Classes focus on building primary swimming skills with or without flotation devices. Goals include building self-esteem and independence in the water. Classes are 30 minutes. POLLIWOG (6-8 YEARS) A class for intermediate swimmers with varying levels of swimming ability. Classes focus on building strength and proper swimming technique. Goals include developing primary competitive stroke skills and water safety. Classes are 35 minutes. GUPPY (8-12 YEARS) A class for intermediate swimmers with previous swim lesson experience. Classes focus on developing technique further including breathing skills and total comfort in the water. Goals include building understanding of competitive strokes and ability to perform them. Classes are 35 minutes. PRIVATE SWIM LESSONS Private swim lessons are available for adults and children, who wish to learn to swim on an individual basis. Lessons will be scheduled based on instructor s availability, pool availability and student schedule. SEMI-PRIVATE SWIM LESSONS Semi-private swim lessons are available for those adults and children who wish to have the flexibility and focus of a private lesson but with the added comfort of a friend or relative to learn alongside them. Classes will be limited to groups of 2-3. *Classes are determined by swimming ability. Age is merely a suggestion. Child will be placed accordingly by instructor if necessary.

11 HEALTHY LIVING We believe that everyone has the desire to be well and that well-being is best cultivated by providing supportive relationships and environments. We also believe that all people should have the opportunity to be well in spirit, mind, and body. CARDIO BLAST SILVER SNEAKERS MUSCLE STRENGTH, RANGE OF MOVEMENT Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activity for daily living skills. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball are offered for resistance and a chair is used for balance. Tuesday & Thursday 9:00-10:00 AM AGELESS FITNESS An instructor led workout, encompassing multi-level exercises to include all fitness levels. Must bring a sense of humor for fun and laughs. Monday & Wednesday 9:00-9:45 AM YOGA This class is an energetic program that strengthens and connects mind, body and spirit to improve flexibility and strength. No Classes the month of August. Monday Thursday : Beginners welcome 6:00-7:00 PM 8:00-9:00 AM REACH Restorative breathing exercises and a final relaxation will promote stress reduction and mental clarity. Seated stretch class combining Yoga and Tai Chi techniques. Thursday 10:10-10:40 AM This 20 minute high intensity class will get your heart pumping. This class is designed for those who need to get in and out and feel good about their workout. Returns in the Fall H.I.I.T Varying cardio levels help you burn the most calories. This class will burn your weekend calories and give you strong muscles. Monday &Friday 9:15 AM BOOTCAMP Are you looking for a challenge? This class is complete with speed drills, strength training and a motivating coach. Wednesday 9:00-10:00 AM CARDIO KICK High Intensity cardio workout with or without weights. 13 WATER WELLNESS CLASSES All land and water wellness classes are FREE for Members WATER X This class is for those looking for a cardio and strength workout using water dumbbells, kickboards, and noodles. Tuesday, Thursday, Friday Monday, Wednesday, Thursday LAP SWIM Open to individuals ages 12 years old and up. Mature behavior and adherence to lap swim guidelines is required. Those wishing to float or water walk should do so during adult or open swim. 15 SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY Started by volunteers more than 165 years ago, the YMCA remains a volunteer led and volunteer driven organization. Locally, volunteers are at the heart of every aspect of the YMCA. Policy, program and fundraising volunteers help chart the course, steer the ship and fuel the engine of the YMCA. Policy Volunteers The GLOW YMCA is governed by an Association Board of Directors and supported by branch boards representing and advancing the YMCA s interest across its four county service area. These Policy Volunteers are responsible for the oversight of the daily operations of the YMCA through the development and monitoring of YMCA s policies, procedures and Strategic Plan. Program Volunteers The YMCA uses program volunteers as tools to improve lives, young and old, through activities that engage and enrich the Spirit, Mind and Body. YMCA program volunteers develop, direct and support those tools serving alongside and in some cases instead of staff. Program volunteers lend their time, passion and expertise to improve, enhance and expand YMCA programs. Fundraising Volunteers In support of the YMCA s Annual Campaign, ongoing operations, capital projects and the endowment fund, Fundraising Volunteers work year round on behalf of the YMCA. By far the YMCA largest volunteer category, YMCA fundraisers focus first on friend-raising in seeking support for the YMCA. NEW BEGINNINGS New Beginnings is a support group for people who have undergone or are considering some form of Bariatric Surgery.
