2 ANNUAL REVIEW IN FAMILY MEDICINE CONTROVERSIES AND CHALLENGES IN PRIMARY CARE Hotel Nikko, San Francisco February 18-20, 2004 EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES Presented by the University of California, San Francisco, School of Medicine, the Annual Review in Family Medicine is designed to update primary care clinicians in controversial and rapidly changing areas. The emphasis is on practical and useful information for clinical practice. The discussions will also be extremely valuable in preparation for the Board Examination of the American Board of Family Practice. Develop approaches to rapidly changing areas in primary care, such as screening for heart disease, movement disorders, the pervasive developmental disorders and HIV/AIDS Appreciate the wider range of approaches to common problems, such as dementia, arrhythmias, contraception and polycystic ovarian disorder Select appropriate management strategies for bipolar disorder, ADHD and fractures in children in a primary care setting Implement current strategies for preventing and treating childhood and family obesity Understand the evidence for use of vitamins, testosterone and anabolic steroids in primary care Utilize techniques to manage their own stress in the practice of medicine ACCREDITATION The University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine (UCSF) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine (UCSF) designates this education activity for a maximum of category 1 credits toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award. Each physician should claim only those credits that he/she actually spent in the activity. Nurse Credit- The California State Board of Registered Nursing accepts courses approved for AMA PRA category 1 credit as meeting the continuing education requirements for renewal. Nurses from states other than California should inquire with their local state board for specific continuing education policies.
