3 SELF-ASSESSMENT IN SAN FRANCISCO: A REVIEW FOR PRACTICING RADIOLOGISTS WORLD-CLASS INSTRUCTION IN A WORLD-CLASS CITY October 8 12, 2007 The UCSF Department of Radiology is pleased to offer an intensive week of clinicial radiologic review and self-instruction covering the following radiology subspecialties: Vascular-Interventional, Breast, Neuro, Gastrointestinal and Pulmonary Imaging. Half-day lecture sessions will be oriented toward radiologists in clinical practice. Each set of daily lectures will be followed by a short self-assessment test. The answers to the test will then be reviewed and a comprehensive answer booklet containing diagnosis, answers and references will be distributed. Self-assessment tests have been designed to meet the standards of the American Board of Radiology (ABR) for self-assessment modules (SAMs). Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to discuss: 1 Current concepts and recent advances in diagnostic radiology; 2 The techniques of CT, MRI and interventional procedures; 3 Interventional modalities and their appropriate uses; 4 Pathophysiologic mechanisms of human disease; 5 The fundamentals of the following specialties: Vascular- Interventional, Breast, Neuro, Abdominal and Thoracic Imaging. 5 SELF-ASSESSMENT IN SAN FRANCISCO: OPTIONAL SELF-ASSESSMENT MODULES The UCSF Department of Radiology is pleased to offer credit for Self-Assessment Modules (SAM), which are incorporated within this activity. Each day an optional self-assessment module will be offered at the end of the half-day session. Those persons who wish to receive SAM credit will need to complete a short test. The answers to the test will then be reviewed and a comprehensive answer booklet containing diagnosis, answers and references will be distributed. SAMs will be presented in the following topical areas: Monday Abdominal Imaging Tuesday Breast Imaging Wednesday Neuroradiology Thursday Vascular-Interventional Friday Cardiac-Pulmonary Those persons who wish to receive SAM credit must complete and turn in their their test to be scored. Note that in order to claim the total 22 Category 1 Credits offered, an attendee must also have participated in the self-assessment sessions. Self-assessment tests have been designed to meet the standards of the American Board of Radiology (ABR) for selfassessment modules (SAMs). 5
