1 Bulletin Monday 27th April 2015 Meets weekly at Benito s Restaurant 1196 Nepean Highway, Mount Eliza I S S U E N O / pm for 6.30pm start TOM S TALES Hello Rotarians April is Magazine Month It was good to hear From Chris Angerer on Monday night about the work local Rotarians are doing through RAWCS. Our congratulations go to Rob Davies on being chosen to go on the next trip to Timor which leaves in just a few weeks, can t wait to hear from you on your experiences when you get back Rob. Peter Warren also announced the changeover date of the 5th of July. It will be a break with tradition with it being a lunch time event 12 for Please put this in you diaries or planner or phone or whatever you use as a reminder these days. We have also been contacted by the Salvation Army looking for bodies for their Red Shield appeal on the weekend of the 30 th / 31 st May if you can help please contact Sean Mapleback on On the 11th May we have just got confirmation that Brooke Squires will be talking to us on her work with the Zoo and in Africa. She was one of the stars at the recent Rotary Conference and a great speaker. So please invite all your partners and friends to attend what I m sure will be a great night After Last week s meeting there were several enquires about RAWCS so here is some information on it Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS) assists Rotary Clubs in Australia with the development and management of international community service projects weather it's projects to help rebuild in the aftermath of disasters, programs to bring education to countries where illiteracy stifles development or bringing health care and medical aid. RAWCS supports Rotary Clubs in sending teams of volunteers to developing countries to provide assistance upon the development of much needed facilities, especially within the health and education areas. 2 LAST MEETING AT BENITO S RESTAURANT Advice, assistance and training in building, construction and commercial operations (for example, assistance in obtaining microfinance) are also provided by RAWCS to support developing communities in establishing themselves. RAWCS is an Australian based program. Everyday people volunteer their time as Rotarians and Friends of Rotary to make each RAWCS project happen. More next week This Monday we are to hear about our website with a demonstration on how it all works and also the working of our drop box and Facebook. Guest of Club: Chris Angerer RC Frankston Sunrise (speaker ) Rotary Meeting Minutes Monday 20th April President Tom Barrett Greeted Rotarians and guests and advised that we have a new centurion club member and that Centurian contibutions are now due and to see Rob Marks. Bowl Scan kits will be available next meeting. Peter Warren Club Changeover. District Changeover is on Sun 28/6 so RCMM changeover will not be on the night before but on Sunday 5 th July and it will be a lunch not a dinner Peter Rawlings Family of Rotary. Merv Williams mother has passed away and service will be at Foster. Car seats are available with Peter Rawlings or Roger Annear if members would like to attend.
3 LAST MEETING AT BENITO S RESTAURANT Mornington Secondary College will conduct an Anzac commemoration if members would like to attend. David Wheeler Sergeant. The following were recipients of fines unfeelingly handed out by the Sergeant. Jonathon Mayne Eye surgery which evolved into surgery to remove a melanoma that the eye surgeon spotted. Barrie Sweeney NZ lost something?? Anything involving kiwis and Barrie cops it! Doug Rhodes being Doug, Roger Annear going fishing (did he catch anything) Paul Clark Not getting the toast word perfect Roger Annear Ran into David Crane in Mallacoota pub. Peter Warren Swindle lost heeps last week!! Martin Reid Home renos not quite right Tom Barrett Anniversary John Routledge Birthday Martin Lowes Visit to the dentist Roger Annear Swindle David Wheeler, Rob Davies and John Marshal won the right to pick a card The club won. Rob Davies Chairperson for the Evening Introduced Speaker Chris Angerer Rotarian from Frankston Sunrise to present : East Timor Projects. (Rob Davies is going to East Timor in May to volunteer for 2 weeks) Chris Angerer Speaker Run by Rotary Club of Bright and Rotary Club of Frankston Sunrise These projects arose from a District Conference held in Dili, 3 Projects were identified and it was proposed to take on all 3 The three projects of interest to our district listed below and are totaling $100K Atabae- Girls school shower/toilet block, kitchen/dorm completed teams of 5-6 rotarians Artauro Community Training Centre (Rob Davies project) 3 teams 2 weeks each. Maubisse Kindergarten Extension plus washroom/toilet. Many Rotary projects have been completed or underway in East Timor by various Rotary Clubs these are the latest. Volunteers wanted for Timor Leste Project: visit, org President Tom Barrett Advised that Brook Squires from Melbourne Zoo who spoke at Conference on saving rhinos will be our speaker on 11 May. A good opportunity to invite partners and guests. She was a great speaker at the conference and Tom urged members get their guests (prospective members) along Reminder of Board Meeting after club meeting.

I'm sure this break with tradition will prove to be just as successful as previous Saturday night changeovers. A few of us attended an afternoon tea at The Briars where these certificates were presented to the many organisations involved. Thanks to those club members who were involved there are also individual certificates for those people, which will be handed out on Monday Night.
