2 PRESIDENT S MESSAGE Well Tuesday was a great turnout and it s always a special night when the partners are there. After the meeting we managed to hook up to the E-Club and although it was a bit like watching an old home movie at times and the sound coming through the computer came and went it was exciting to see people from all over the world connecting to talk about Rotary. The speakers were interesting but more exciting is that we have in our midst a young person who can see the potential of Rotary and wants to do something about it. Hopefully we can convince more young people to get involved. We ll have to because I can t see many of us using Twitter or some of the other media tools youngsters and celebrities use. New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has just announced that he will donate $100 million to the Polio Plus campaign from his Philanthropic Trust. They must pay mayors well in the U.S.! Thanks mostly to Bill Gates I suppose, more and more people are realising the enormity of what Rotarians have done and how critical it is to make sure we finish the job. One aspect I feel we have neglected is to tell the world how much we ve done. None of these celebrities would have come on board if we hadn t started the campaign and, for the most part, run it. I can t help but think that if young people knew how much Rotarians had done over the last 108 years they would be more than keen to get involved. See you next week. There hasn t been a free lunch yet Without those boring speeches. What was it like having all your teeth out? Terrible. I will never do it again. Here snug in her grave My wife do lie. Now she s at rest And so am I. Dancing is a perpendicular expression of a horizontal desire. He said it was love at first sight. Then why didn t he marry her? Because he took a second look. I have always tried to pay my bills with a smile. But invariably they want money. With the new world order the USA will, from now on, be known as the IOUSA. Rotator February 26 8
