Here we are in Week 10, the last week in Term 2. How have we done this term??? Something we need to chat about- teachers and students, parents and children and teachers and parents. An important part of the chat would be to look at possible answers for How can we do better in the next two terms? While a broad answer could be, work harder, it would be good to come up with some suggestions based on our assessment of progress up to this point in time. The Health Team s follow-up Men C Vaccination visit on Thursday (14/6/2018) cleared the balance of children with parental consent. If your child is still not treated please get it done as soon as possible. The swimming team s training at the aquatic centre, plus club training by some members impacted positively on our overall performance at the national championship on 1 st and 2 nd June, very good results were achieved. Details will be highlighted as a part of this issue. Earth Day Activities on Wednesday 2 nd May was a great success and need to be highlighted again. The collaboration of parents, teachers, students and friends produced a wonderful learning experience for our children and for most of us adults as well. Vinaka Vakalevu to all involved- organisers and participants!!! Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (LANA) papers for Years 5 and 7 were administered at the end of May and the results will be available during our Term 3. The results will have a national platform on which to make comparisons between individual and national averages. After 7 years as a member of our TLC family, Yasmine Molendijk and family are now on the move to Port Moresby, PNG. Many thanks for their wonderful participation and contribution. Our best wishes go with them!!!! Reminders about outstanding fees have been provided regularly to help parents with their payments within the current term by term requirement. PLEASE check and update your payments up to term 2 and settle term 3 s during its 10 weeks timeframe-the sooner the better. Please have the children wear the proper uniform (including shoes) to school each day except on PE/sports days when the sportswear should be worn. Early Birds: If your children usually arrive early please remind them to make good use of their time in the classroom- read or work on class projects. Please drop the children off in the presence of the duty teacher. TLC Workathon (2 nd June): The Foreshore clean up was postponed to early in Term 3 due to the bad weather forecast by the authorities. Relevant details will be provided well in advance. Term 3 Opening Day: As decided by the EC, we will make up for lost time by commencing our Term 3 on Monday 2 nd July. Please let other parents know. Let us make Term 3 an enjoyable and meaningful learning spell for our children. TRUST Trust is believing in someone or something being right/good. Trusting one another creates unity and the will to help one another. Let us trust one another in every positive way.

Tamar Botha: for reliably carrying out her classroom duties. Year 7 Jordan Ragwhan: for making the effort to complete and present neat work. Francis Peters: for working hard to complete and upgrade allocated activities. Yasmine Molendyk: for being a respectful, happy and enthusiastic worker who completes work on time. Year 8 Christian Taukei-for being well organized and disciplined. Rayna Mohan: for her positive focus on academic work. 3 Issue: 5 Term U14 grade has completed its competition. Training sessions this week continue at the school on Tuesday,Wednesday and Thursday for the other grades.u12 competitions continue this week at the MGM ground, Nabua. We thank the TLC parents, families and teachers for their support plus a vinaka vakalevu to the Manager(Mr Ram) and Coach(Bula) for their effort to mould an inexperienced group into a team.

4 Miss Alisi with support from Mrs Erna, Mrs Sala Ratunamasa and Miss Selina Nainoka has been training the girls at school since Term 1 in preparation for the Netball Competition that is still in progress. The first round of competitions began on Saturday,19 th May, Under 9 won their first game against John Wesley Primary School 2-0. Under11played a game against St.Anne s and lost; brilliantly played for a young team! Under13had two games on the first day: TLC vs. Dudley Intermediate/TLC vs St Anne s Primary. They lost both games but played well with many new hands in the team. 5 U11 Veiuto Gold & TLC in a friendly end of game get-together. Grade 3 Assembly (25/5/18) Grade 3 spoke on important Going Green issues- such as Mother Nature, how to protect our enviroment and the positive habit of recycling. All the class members came dressed in costumes made of recycled items,from newspapers,plastic bottles,umbrellas,cereal boxes, strings and just about anything they could make use of. Mishank of Grade 3 introduced himself and spoke on his previous school and his current experience at TLC. Welcome Mishank and all the best!!. Well done Grade 3!

8 End of Term 2 Assembly Our Guest of Honour, Auntie Laisa Vulakoro & nephew (Marika) with staff members. In her address to the school Auntie Laisa raised the importance of family unity and respect for one another- your parents, elders, teachers and those you inter-act with. Equally important was focusing on your skills/talent/, to put in honest hard work, to persevere and become what you want to be. TLC enjoyed a lively and entertaining time with her and Marika, singing and dancing as a family. Until we meet again, vinaka vakalevu with our best wishes for the future!!!
