Exceptions may be made for those with a physical diagnosed medical condition. We reserve the right to cancel, reschedule or combine classes that do not have sufficient enrollment in which case a credit shall be issued. No refund or credits are issued for individual classes missed. If a class needs to be cancelled then we will make every effort to notify you in advance. As a rule, make ups for class cancellations are not provided.

WHEN: 8-10 p.m. May 5 June 2 PRICE: $6 per person SERVING OUR COMMUNITY Family Night at Governor s Restaurant GOVERNOR S RESTAURANT, OLD TOWN Join us for a Spring themed Family Night at Governor s Restaurant in Old Town on April 27 from 4-8 p.m. The monthly Old Town-Orono YMCA Family Nights at Governor s are held the fourth Thursday of every month. Governor s Restaurant will donate a percentage of all proceeds from the night to the Old Town-Orono YMCA scholarship fund, which allows members of our community who need it the most access to childcare and programming at our facility. 6 A RUN TO REMEMBER Memorial Day 5K Run/Walk OLD TOWN-ORONO YMCA Because our service men and women who died during active duty should never be forgotten, the Old Town-Orono YMCA is proud to host this annual Memorial Day 5K. It s a great chance to get out and be active as a family while teaching kids about the sacrifices others have made. First 50 registrants receive a free T-shirt All proceeds go to benefit the Y s Scholarships for Veterans. 7 BETTER, FASTER, STRONGER STRONG by Zumba Launch Party OLD TOWN-ORONO YMCA Perfect For Fitness enthusiasts and students looking for a more challenging, high intensity interval training workout. How It Works With most workout programs, music is an afterthought. The music in STRONG by Zumba was crafted to drive the intensity in a challenging progression that provides a total body workout. The result? A group fitness experience like no other. Benefits Moving in sync with music makes you work harder. This class will push you past your plateaus to help you reach your fitness goals faster. Using your own body weight, you will gain muscular endurance, tone, and definition, and you will experience an increased afterburn. In 2017, we hope to foster relationships among our members, and are planning to hold monthly SilverSneakers Socials. Our first social was a success, and this next gathering will focus on nutrition. 9 SUMMER VACATION CAMPS REGISTRATION INFO Registration for summer camps is now open. For the most up-to-date information, check our website at otoymca.org and follow us on Facebook. Register by April 29 and your camper will receive a free YMCA tote bag and water bottle. All children (even those currently in enrolled in after school care at the Old Town-Orono YMCA) must register for summer camp programming. To register, call All participants will need to fill out a new registration packet, which will be available on our website at otoymca.org and at the front desk, 472 Stillwater Ave. in Old Town. 10 SUMMER VACATION CAMPS - GYMNASTICS Gym & Swim Camp Ages a.m.-noon July Children must be able to fully separate from the parent in order to participate in this camp; they are on their own with an instructor. Camp includes gymnastics instruction, fun gym activities, and an hour of swimming each day. Participants should bring a snack for a mid-morning break. Gymnastics Camp Ages a.m.-noon July and Aug Students will be taught a progression of gymnastics skills, from beginner to intermediate based on the level of the class participants, and will be exposed to all of the gymnastics apparatus. Focus is on helping kids develop motor skills, coordination, strength, flexibility, self-esteem, and confidence. Participants should bring a snack. Choreography Camp Ages a.m.-noon July 31-Aug. 4 With the help of experienced coaches, the participants will develop their own original gymnastics routines on the floor exercise and balance beam events during this weeklong camp. Camp will end with a show on Friday. Only open to gymnasts that have completed the Intermediated Rec Level. 11 SUMMER VACATION CAMPS Summer Adventure Program The Summer Adventure Program is all about discovery. Kids have the opportunity to explore nature, find new talents and try a variety of sports all while making lasting friendships and memories. Campers will receive swimming lessons, gymnastics and fitness time, as well as optional activities such as crafts, gardening, and sports as well! The Y and it s campers will make use of local biking & hiking trails, YMCA ball fields, local playgrounds (including the YMCA s on site playground), the Old Town Community Pool & local splash pads and much more! Healthy snacks are also provided. The Old Town-Orono YMCA recognizes the safety of your child is the most important thing to you. It is for us, as well. All staff are trained in CPR and First Aid. 12 SUMMER VACATION CAMPS Teen Leadership Summer Camp Let the Old Town-Orono YMCA provide your child with a safe and active environment this summer to develop socially and physically. The Teen Leadership Summer Program bases its activities on the four core values of the YMCA: Respect, Responsibility, Honesty, & Caring. The program offers structured and unstructured indoor/outdoor activities for children who have completed grades 5-8. Most indoor activities will be held at the Y facility and Teen Leadership Program takes advantage of the wide variety of outdoor spaces adjacent to the Y s location. There are weekly themed events and YMCA bused field trips. Campers will receive swimming lessons, gymnastics and fitness time, along with other activities such as crafts, gardening, and sports! Healthy snacks are also provided. The Old Town-Orono YMCA recognizes the safety of your child is the most important thing to you. 13 Teer Basketball Summer Skills Camp Why Teer Training? Coach Ben Teer is a former Division I basketball player for IONA College. Teer has played against some of the worlds best talent in Evan Turner, Andrew Wiggins, and Jared Sullinger. Teer has taught skills all over the globe that he learned from the great Ray Allen, formerly of the Boston Celtics. Teer Training is responsible for the biggest and best basketball camps in the state of Maine every year! The trainings focus on individual skills so every player will progress comparing to their own ability rather than the abilities of others. WHEN: 5-7 p.m. August 7-11 COST: $125 WHO: Entering Grades

15 Pickleball Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in the country, and at the Old Town-Orono YMCA it s FREE for EVERYONE on Mondays and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon in the adult gym. There also will be a court set up in the youth gym that people can reserve. To use that court, it s free for members, and nonmembers only need to pay for a day pass. We welcome all ages and abilities, and instruction is available Pickleball is a mixture of ping-pong, badminton, and tennis, and is the perfect sport for athletes of all ages who want to stay active with minimal impact on the body. 16 Preschool Open Play (Ages 8 months to 4): Parent participation is required. The gym is set up with a variety of age-appropriate equipment and is supervised by coaches, but it is unstructured. The focus is on stimulating motor learning using various age-appropriate equipment and activities. Fees: Family $58 / Member $73 / Non Member $115 Recreational Classes (Ages 4 and up): These developmental classes begin with an introduction to the fundamentals of gymnastics and progress to teaching beginner to intermediate gymnastics skills. These classes are co-ed. They are broken down by ability as well as age. 17 Tumbling (Ages 10 and up): A structured class providing training on tumbling skills, including the round-off, back handspring and more advanced flips. Once chosen the days cannot be changed throughout the session. 18 Gymnastics/Tumbling Semi-Private Lessons Is your child struggling with a specific event or skill? Does your child ask for more time in the gym? We offer semi-private lessons for all skill levels in both gymnastics and tumbling. Lessons are structured to have 1-3 participants per instructor. There are NO make-up opportunities for missed lessons. Private lessons by the session are only offered on Saturdays. WHO: Ages 4-18 WHEN: One-hour blocks, Noon-4 p.m. Saturdays (Private lessons by the session are only offered on Saturdays.) Gymnastics Private Lessons Private lessons are a great way for an athlete to get one on one time with a coach and master those tough skills they may be struggling with. 20 Aquatics Parent/child Program (Ages 6 months to 3): This program provides the highest quality of early water experiences for children from six months to three years. Program instruction is directed toward helping parents work with their children. One adult must accompany each child. Fees: Member $40 / Non Member $64 Pike with Parent (Ages 2 to 5): Similar to an independent pike class, parents are involved with the structure and teaching techniques in the program. Basic skills such as floating, paddling, kicking and water acclimation are introduced to gain independence in the water and prepare your child for the independent swim program. Fees: Member $40 / Non Member $64 Preschool Swim Lessons (Ages 3 to 5): This program introduces children to their first experience swimming without a parent. It is a great way for the kids to learn how to be independent and have fun in an aquatics environment. Fees: Family $40 / Member $48 / Non Member $85 20
21 Youth Swim Lessons (Ages 6 and up): These lessons consist of four separate, progressive levels that focus on stroke development, water safety, personal growth, and fun. Our instructors will work one-on-one with you or your child to improve on the many elements of swimming. 22 100-Mile Swim Club Looking for a way to stay motivated in your swim workout? Join the 100-Mile Swim Club. Simply keep track of the laps you swim during each workout at one of the Old Town-Orono YMCA s pools and record your distance and have the lifeguard on duty sign the log book. When you reach 100 miles, you will receive a 100- Mile Club Swim Cap, recognition, and a chance for the grand prize, which will be drawn at the end of the year. The challenge runs through the end of the year. How many laps is a mile? 1 mile = 1,760 yards = 72 lengths = 36 laps. How can you get to 100 miles? It s not as hard as it sounds. 2 miles a week equals 100 miles in about 50 weeks. 3 miles a week equals 100 miles in about 33 weeks. 1 mile a day, 5 days a week, equals 100 miles in 20 weeks. 23 Masters Swim Team Are you training for a Triathlon? Or just out to get some exercise? We at Y masters aim to encourage adults to swim. Our goal is to improve a swimmer s endurance, fitness, and technique. We also aim to be an inclusive group, a real live TEAM and foster the love for swimming! Three sessions a week with on deck coaching, and workouts set up for your fitness and ability level! 27 After School Activity Program The After School Activity Program (ASAP) is a unique program that provides youth the opportunity to participate in both organized and unstructured activities. 28 Music Lessons Guitar Lessons are offered at the Old Town-Orono YMCA for students in grades 3-8. Music Lessons are offered once a week for 45 minutes during the eight-week session. 31 Rock Climbing Semi-Private Lessons Climbers will not only learn how to approach rock walls but they will also learn how to help other people through them, as well. By the end of the session, participants will be able to belay themselves, others, and will know what to do in emergency situations. Maximum of three participants per class. Aqua Zumba: Splashing, stretching, twisting, shouting, and laughing - that s Aqua Zumba classes for you! Silver Sneakers Splash: Activate your urge for variety!
