2 PAGE 2 A Message from the Pastor Every time someone enters into our children s resource room in the church s education wing, this same statement is heard: I had no idea all these wonderful programs are happening with our children! Quickly followed by, I should be in here learning the depth and breadth of bible study and faith formation. To which I say, Let s do it! A good first step is with the Pew Pal program that Dale has introduced this month, whereby an adult and a child are secretly paired. Through a mail box in the children s room, the kids receive encouraging notes from their adult pew pal and respond back. The adults are given the children s profiles and told each week what the children are learning, so they can support and reinforce the learning. On May 15 at our Pentecost Gospel worship/bbq brunch, the big reveal will occur when the children find out their pew pal and spend time that day getting to know them! Other opportunities are being planned in May & June to invite adults to join in faith building programs with our children. If you are interested in learning more about our children s education program, ask Dale to take you through the education wing to show you what the children are learning: the many ways in which biblical stories, faith experiences are coming alive for them. And our children are growing! Make an appointment with Dale or just drop by on Tuesday or Thursday mornings and expect to be amazed! So grateful to Dale and an incredibly dedicated Christian Education board who are working diligently with our little ones! 4 PAGE 4 PAGE 9 Pew Pals Has Begun! An intergenerational Sunday school program in which children have been matched, anonymously, with an adult Pew Pal. During April and May the adult Pew Pal will, like Secret Santa, leave notes, cards, words of wisdom, etc. in their child s mailbox in the Children s Resource Room. The children are also invited to leave crafts, projects or notes for their adult. At the close of the program the children will meet their Pew Pal and have an opportunity to interview them. Women s Auxiliary We will not have a meeting in April! We will meet in May, Thursday, May 12 at 11am in Fellowship Hall All women invited! Join us to share devotions, work on missions and have lunch. Bring a sandwich for your lunch; dessert provided. We continue to collect aluminum cans and plastic bottles to raise funds for mission support. Also, please save Campbell s Labels for Education Thank You! Contact Nancy Dean with questions and for pick-up A special thank you to Ann Link for designing the staff business cards. Take a look!! A thank you to everyone for providing supplies for CWS School Kits. We were able to put together 55 kits in the tie dyed bags created by our Kid s Faith Discovery group. Thank you Dale and children for helping with this project. Thank you to all the women who rolled bandages for our Church World Service quota! And thanks to those who bring in their empty cans and bottles to be redeemed for Auxiliary funds. A special thank you goes to Pat Haines for taking the cans and bottles to be redeemed! Many have helped to get these projects completed. Thank you all! You are truly appreciated.

Unacceptable items include: No jewelry, Teflon coated items, mattresses, electronics (with some exceptions), VCRs or VCR tapes, cassette tapes, computers, printers, knives or other weapons, and no food or beverages Funds raised will go toward the Education wing roof! Our Stephen Ministers have been continuously caring for their care receivers on a weekly basis. In order to encourage and support each other our Stephen Ministers along with the Stephen Leaders also meet twice a month. All are looking forward to this field trip and a new date will be set soon. CROP Walk 2016 Walk to end hunger This year s walk is Sunday, May 1st The goal for Spencerport area walkers is $7500! All information is available at church on Sunday mornings. Someone will invite you to sign-up to walk. Then you can set your personal goal and get as many sponsors as you can. And the best part is sharing a spring day with friends and family along the canal. Don t forget, 25% of funds raised goes to help our own Spencerport Ecumenical Food Shelf. At the moment, we do not accept furniture, house wares, decorative items, holiday decorations, frames, books, baby items, toys, sporting goods or equipment.
