3 Dear Friends, It is no secret that cancer is our enemy an enemy that the American Cancer Society has fought since This fight continues, and the American Cancer Society is making great strides to defeat this enemy. The next major battle in our community will take the stage literally-on March 31, 2012, when the American Cancer Society s Couture for the Cause fashion show is presented by Sterling McCall Lexus. This unforgettable 1920 s Puttin on the Ritz themed show will be held at the home of long time Sugar Land residence, Cindy and Randy Garbs. We will reveal the latest fashions on amazing models, some of whom you may know, as they strut the runway. The next battle is imminent; won t you join the fight? 4 ACS in your community 2011 Gulf Coast Region American Cancer Society Facts 6,364 cancer patients were served with valuable information about their cancer diagnosis and available resources through our Personal Health Manager Kits 482 women who were newly diagnosed with breast cancer received a one-on-one visit from a breast cancer survivor through our Reach to Recovery program 5,581 rides were provided for cancer patients to their live-saving cancer treatments through our Transportation Program 278 euipment items were provided to cancer patients to assist them during their cancer experience 351 patients received temporary housing during their treatment process in Houston through our Guestroom Program 3,973 patients received services from our Patient Navigation Program to assist them with community resources and help alleviate some of their financial stress 972 women received a weighted prosthesis and two bras after their breast cancer surgery All of these services and items are provided free of charge to cancer patients and their families.
