Distinguished Lt Governor for is Adam Walsh. Carmen Bakkan presented Foundation Awards Cheryl Bergstrom presented PGI/PDI Awards Governor Kevin presented pins for new members and recognized new Titan JOI Club General Meeting called to order by Carman Bakkan at 9:06am Opening Ceremonies: included presentation of colors by Watertown Police Explorers. National Anthems, Pledge of Allegiance and Toast to Canada, Introduction of Head Table, Welcome to Watertown by Mayor Sarah Caron, Carman Bakkan passed the gavel to Governor Kevin. Introduction of International VP Roger Lesofski Dave Martin recognized past Governor s and Secretary/Treasurers Gary Lambert introduced 10 first time attendees Previous Minutes: Bill Reilly presented 1 st quarter minutes from Jamestown, Jim Bisek moved for approval, seconded Don Stover; motion carried. Financial Statement: Moved by Bill Reilly, seconded Jo-Anne Pelzer. Carried Zone Realignment: Dave Martin presented a realignment plan approved by the DMM Executive Committee to change the number of zones to 9, realigning clubs into those 9 zones, Dave moved for approval, Sally Damm seconded, motion passed for implementation October, Zone changes are noted in the April 2018 DMM District Dispatch.

2 Governor Elect: Dave Martin announced the 7 Lt Governors already in place for October, Zone 2 & 3 are presently not filled. Dave Martin moved for approval of Greg Honl as Secretary/Treasurer for , seconded by Don Stover, motion carried. District Convention, August 2018: Keith Davis reported on the August Convention in Rochester. The theme is Health and Wellness dates are August 9, 10 and 11. Date changed to get better rates, the convention will be held at the Kahler- Apache Hotel. Pre-conference there will be tours of the Mayo Clinic. Jr Golf: The June 15 th tournament will be held at Hawktree Golf Course in Bismarck, ND 10:00am break for CCDHH Contest 11:23am meeting resumed JOI Clubs: Angie Wall reported there are 12 JOI clubs in the district with 231 members. Clubs can be started with 8 members; there is a $50 enrollment fee and dues of $10 per member CCOF: Accepted donations, encouraged Dime a Day memberships, selling raffle tickets. OIF: Accepted donations Net Suite Presentation: Carolyn Anderson spoke on the software and training available for club Treasurers. This is offered free to all Optimist Club s until May 21 valued at $70,000. Apply at netsuite.com/socialimpact Break for Lunch 12:30pm Winner of the DMM Essay contest was announced by Linda Grulke. $2500 Essay winner is Ashley Andersen from the St Cloud Morning Optimist Club. Oratorical Winner: Dave Nichols announced the winners of the DMM Oratorical contest. 1 st place is Kelsey Frost of Brandon Valley, 2 nd place is Rylie Fode of Bismarck. Both will receive $2500 scholarships and Kelsey will represent the DMM at the International contest in St. Louis. Kelsey presented her speech. CCDHH Winner: Lori Cook announced the winner of the DMM $2500 scholarship winner. Marcus Backman from Bloomington then presented his speech.

3 2:13pm-Resumed meeting CCC: Jack Dyvig encouraged all clubs to raise funds for Childhood Cancer, he accepted checks for CCC International VP-Roger Lesofski: Recognized the DMM for 5 Distinguished Governors in the past 5 years. Warned that if we don t bring in more members our programs for youth will have no Optimist s to carry on our programs. In 1990 OI had 175, 00 members now 2018 we have 65,685. We have lost 60% of our membership in the last 25 yrs. Membership is our biggest asset. Membership challenge: anyone who brings in 3 members from 4/28 to 6/28 is entered in a drawing for $100 Susan Fix: How to add more excitement to your meetings Susan gave us many ideas to make our meetings enjoyable. You empower your members with interesting meetings and also encourage member s participation. Meeting Final Report by Carmen Bakken: 77 members in attendance, 18 youth/joi attending, 29 Clubs represented and 11 First Timers. OIF report: Carmen Bakken reported $ was collected for Optimist International Foundation.
