2 The Postgraduate Course in GeneralSurgery Presented by the University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine, the practicing surgeon will be brought up-to-date on the latest developments in general surgery. This clinicallyoriented course offers General Surgeons an intensive overview of problems encountered in daily practice and is of substantial value in preparation for board and recertification examinations. This year's program emphasis is on common surgical diseases and techniques, with a focus on the avoidance of surgical complications, breast diseases, gallbladder and liver surgery, colorectal surgery, endocrine surgery, and trauma and critical care. OBJECTIVES Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to identify, diagnose and understand the pathophysiology of and treat surgically: Breast Cancer; Thyroid Cancer; Hernias; Common Surgical Complications involving the Gallbladder; Common Anorectal Disease; Traumatically-injured Patients NEW LOCATION! April 29 - May 1, 2010 ACCREDITATION The University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine (UCSF) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
