Th grandur of composition, richnss of dtail and colour of th buildings hav st a formidabl dsign standard for subsqunt dvlopmnt. In th main, latr dvlopmnt has rspctd th qualitis of th original buildings and th Univrsity njoys a campus with a totality of dsign rar on campuss dvlopd ovr a priod of tim and undr a varity of influncs. In 1959, Gordon Stphnson rcommndd that it was undsirabl to mak provision for undrgraduat classs in buildings byond th third lvl. Whil this has not bn adoptd as a principl, it is prfrabl that th ntry lvl of a taching building on campus is th location of major undrgraduat activity.
