2 Statements & Search Criteria Mission Sweet Monday, Women s Socials on a Shoestring Tied to a Generous God, is creative evangelism that energizes and encourages women s ministries by inspiring hospitality and relationship through reaching out to women for Christ one sweet invitation at a time. These monthly home-based socials full of fun, fresh ideas connect women and offer a simple introduction to Christ. Sweet Monday is an economical way to launch or revitalize a women s outreach program, whether in a church or neighborhood. Sweet Monday outreaches focus on themes relevant to women of all ages and stages of life and include a short devotional and gospel message. The outreaches encourage women to laugh a lot, learn from each other and leave with an introduction to Jesus Christ. Background Kim Newlen started Sweet Monday in her home in Feeling lonely for the first time as a new mom, she longed to connect with other women, and to introduce them to Christ. She invited neighbors, friends, acquaintances and women at church to her home. Thirty women attended that first night, where Kim served one dessert, a dose of inspiration from God's Word and sweet candy to share or eat on the ride home. Since then, God has multiplied the five cupcakes and two pieces of candy just as He multiplied the five loaves and two fish in the Bible Sweet Monday is in every state and on every continent but Antarctica. Sweet Monday is a homegrown, tiny tool that God is using in a BIG way to connect women to each other and Himself. Sweet Monday principles are Scripture-based: SIMPLE - "Seek ye first the kingdom of God." Matt. 6:33 SWEET - "How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth." Ps. 119:103 SALTY - "You are the salt of the earth." Matt. 5:13a Impact Executive Director Paula Newton shared Sweet Monday with 900+ women at the dotmom Conference offered by LifeWay in Nashville, TN, in September, 2014.Sweet Monday participated in The Community Foundation's Amazing Raise for the first time in 2014 with great success. We plan to participate again in 2015.Sweet Monday continues to reach out to women throughout the United States and overseas in providing leadership, training and resources to start new outreaches in homes and churches. Needs Financial support for Sweet Monday's annual operation in a challenging economy. Networking and developing relationships with churches, college organizations, potential hostesses, volunteers and donors. One annual outreach event to raise friends and funds. Offering regional Sweet Monday training events (4-5) throughout the U.S. to increase ministry awareness. Outreach manager to correspond with Sweet Monday hostesses to possibly help them fundraise in their locality and to encourage other women to launch a Sweet Monday outreach. CEO/Executive Director Statement Twenty three years ago, Kim Newlen was feeling lonely and isolated when she stopped teaching to be home with their young baby. She opened her home the first Monday of the month for Sweet Monday. The women laughed a lot, learned from other women, and left with an introduction to Christ.
