2 Mission & Impact Statements Mission To provide transitional housing while networking individuals and families with organizations to affirm permanent placement in jobs and housing. In 2015 we opened our first transitional home, a duplex which houses 2 families. We support them as they work, save their money, and learn household budget skills and other core values needed to establish themselves. Background Almost Home was birthed out of the recognizable need for a homeless program through concerned citizens, churches, and organizations such as Salvation Army and Good Samaritan. Almost Home is a transitional housing program which sets it apart from homeless shelters. Our program is projected to run 12 to 24 months which requires the clients to abide by a number of rules and regulations as well as submit to alcohol and drug screening during the program. Our goal is for them to work and accumulate money so they can find suitable housing upon exiting the program. The idea that Franklin County needed services for its homeless people was born during meetings of the Franklin County Advisory Board (CAB) in This Board, made up of helping agencies and Human Services offices in the County, had researched homelessness in this area. In October 2010, Almost Home Transitional Housing Program (Almost Home) created a small board of Directors and was chartered; in spring of 2011, Almost Home received its 501 ( c ) (3) designation. Impact Almost Home served 809 people in 2017; 241 were non-repeats. Through our office, we assisted with rent and utility deposits, rent and utility assistance, and emergency food. We also housed families in our transitional house setting, 2 families at a time. Our impact on the community with monetary assistance is almost twice as much as our transitional housing program. We have an extensive list of surrounding resources in which we colabor with other organizations. Needs Our 2017 annual budget is $36,750 for outreach to the community as well as the transitional housing program which will cover utilities, supplemental food, cleaning supplies, and facilities maintenance. Contributions through Giving Matters are leveraged with United Way of Franklin County. Other ways to donate, support, or volunteer Donations may be made directly by sending a check to P.O. Box 906, -- Winchester, TN Inkind donations are accepted based on space availability and need. Volunteers are needed to assist in the office as case managers. Call to volunteer or make a donation in person. Other ways to donate, support, or volunteer Donations may be made directly by sending a check to P.O. Board Chair Statement Almost Home Transitional Housing Program Board of Directors is comprised of 12 people from the local community each of which has a passion for outreach to the homeless. The board meets monthly and follows an agenda covering the events and finances for the previous month. We also have committees such as the executive committee consisting of the officers and two members at large, a finance committee, a campaign committee, and a media committee, all of which meet outside of the monthly board meetings as necessary. Our directors interact weekly in relation to serving others through , text messaging, and Facebook. pasting CEO Statement After enduring such a hard cold winter we have discovered that the homeless population has grown to nearly 50 people in the Franklin County, TN area. In addition to our transitional housing program to help get people on their feet, as well as our contribution to the community in paying rent and utility assistance to prevent homelessness, we are focused even more on getting the homeless off the streets who for whatever reason choose to live on the street or are living on the street because they are disqualified for assisted housing for whatever reason. Regardless of what crime has been committed we do not feel that they deserve to die on the streets in extreme cold weather. A number of churches as well as the county mayor and commissioners have rallied to open an emergency shelter to first bring the people in to protect them from the elements of nature, identify who they are, and establish their needs so we can help develop a sustainable life plan for each of them. CEO Comments Almost Home has plans to add an emergency shelter as well as an additional transitional home in Franklin County to assist more families. The original plan was for clients to live in the transitional house for months; however, most have proven to be effective within 6 months in finding their own home with a sustainable income. They care for the home as if it were theirs, go to their jobs daily, and save their money regularly. Core values are taught, along with household budgeting and family life skills. Almost Home case managers meet in the home with the clients on a regular basis to review their progress. At the end of their contracted time, the clients will have saved enough money to make their rent and utility deposits, first rent payment and an income to ensure sustainability. 3
4 Programs Programs Utilities Assistance Description Utilities assistance is one prevention measure to avoid homelessness. Budget 6000 Population Served,, Rent Assistance Description Rent assistance is offered for qualifying individuals in order to avoid their being left on the streets. Qualifications do include a personal budget review that reflects their ability to sustain themselves in their housing. Budget Population Served,, Transitional Housing Description We are excited to say we have two families with children in our program. We support these families while they work and save their money; and within six to 12 months we expect they will have saved enough so they can move into their own home and not need to rely again upon public support. Budget Population Served Families,, Rent Deposits and Utility Deposits Description Qualified candidates will receive rent or utility deposit assistance where their budget review shows they can achieve sustainable housing. Applicants may be homeless when they come to us; after counsel and guidance as to how to find affordable housing, they return when they have a lease agreement in hand along with part of the funds needed to secure housing and utilities. We then work with the landlords and/or utility providers to determine how we can best assist the person. Our belief is that this type of assistance is, in the long run, much more valuable to the clients than placing them in a motel for a few nights...after those nights, they still have no place to call home! Budget 9000 Population Served,, CEO Comments Almost Home has plans to add an emergency shelter as well as an additional transitional home in Franklin County to assist more families. 8 Management Executive Director/CEO Executive Director Term Start Jan Mr. Dwain Money Experience I got involved with homeless outreach through helping the Nashville Rescue Mission during a Thanksgiving outreach. I continued on with my outreach with Huntsville Rescue Mission where I served over 30 homeless under the I-565 bridge in Huntsville. Once we were able to get Huntsville churches on board, I shifted my sights on Franklin County Tennessee which is where we birthed Almost Home Transitional Housing Program which has turned out to be a successful organization placing 100's of people each year in temporary and permanent housing. Co-CEO Co-CEO Dwain Money Term Start Feb dmoney@kasai-group.com Experience As a child I always had a desire to serve others, I started as a volunteer at my local hospital when I was 12 years of age. I have served on the board of the Better Business Bureau, past president of our local Chamber of Commerce and am currently serving on the board, served as board member and past president of our local United Way of Franklin County, taught children's church for over 30 years at the local church where I have attended. I am the owner of a local real estate company and I feel blessed to help others in many ways other than just sell them a home. I am able to help others to realize that they too can have the American Dream with time and patience to learn the skills needed to budget for a home to come to and feel safe and have pride in knowing "THEY HAVE A HOME." Being on the board of Almost Home is much more than just being on a board, it is a sense of worth to help so many good people who have had unfortunate things happen to them. Our challenge has been to get enough help to take care of the needs of everyone who needs us. As we continue to grow we will need more staff and more money to pay someone to be there to contact us when others have a need. Now with such a small staff and all are volunteers, it makes it very hard to open our office the number of days needed. When we do hire staff it will help a staff member to have a job to feed their families and in turn, help the folks in need who come to Almost Home Transitional Housing. 9

Form 990 was prepared internally by nonprofit. In other years, this organization filed a Form 990-N with the IRS, which does not provide specific financial information. Small tax-exempt organizations whose annual gross receipts are $50,000 or less are required to submit Form 990-N, also known as the e-postcard, unless they choose to file a complete 990 or 990-EZ.
